The evening started off like any other as Jesse Cook and his band stepped out on stage, engaging the audience in rhythmic clapping. But what proceeded was two hours of absolute stellar musicianship by all. Cook explained to the audience how his current tour was initially scheduled in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of his debut album Tempest and was to take place in 2020. However, the pandemic changed plans and was put on hold until 2022 and renamed Tempest II. Whether that II is because of 2022 or it being a second try at the tour is unknown. But what is certain is how it has been worth the wait.

While the billing is listed as Jesse Cook, and Cook is a superb guitarist – the talent of his band was not lost upon the audience as Cook repeatedly gave opportunities for each of his band members to shine throughout the night with numerous solos. In fact, he shared the story of a young fan and protege of sorts, Matt Sellick – who reached out to Cook 12 years ago, stayed in touch and is now a current member of his band.

One of the many highlights of the evening included Cook singing two songs. One number was during the set, and the second being an unplugged duet with Sellick during the encore. It is safe to say that should you decide to head to one of the remaining tour dates on the Tempest II Tour, you will not be disappointed!
