Philadelphia welcomed Colony House back to the Theater of Living Arts this past Friday. Colony House is currently embarking on their 77 (pt. 1) tour, promoting their new album of the same name, and once again shook the TLA to its very core.

The night began with an energetic set from Happy Landing, an alt-folk band from Oxford, Mississippi. The five-piece group was received very well by the crowd. Between vocalist Matty Hendley’s impressive command of the crowd and Andrew Gardner’s lively fiddle playing, Happy Landing proved to be the perfect supporting act to Colony House.

Colony House took the stage just after 9pm. Opening with the titular track off their new album, 77, the band quickly grabbed the crowd’s attention. They continued right into the songs “Highwire” and “Silhouettes”. The energy was instantly at a 100, with their lead singer, Caleb, heading into the crowd by the third song to sing and dance directly with the audience.

Colony House consists of Caleb Chapman on vocals, Will Chapman on drums, Scott Mills on guitars, Parke Cottrell on bass and keys and Andrew Smith on additional guitar. The Nashville-native group released their fifth studio album, 77 (pt.1), on September 25th. “Telephone Pole”, “Ready to Go”, and “What’s It Gonna Take” were just some of the new tracks played. The audience was screaming the lyrics to both old and new tunes, and many folks were dancing with each other as if they were the only ones in the crowd.  That is the power of Colony House; They write songs that are so personal, you can’t help but feel like their albums are the soundtracks to your life.

Now on their fifth studio album, Colony House has cemented their place in the alt-rock scene. Between their nostalgic guitar tones, Caleb’s rich voice and the band’s overall vibrance, Colony House is never a show you want to miss. A few highlights of the show were “Cannonballers”, “Do You Every Feel”, and “Waiting for My Time To Come”. Hands flew, feet stomped, and voiced carried throughout the 1,000 capacity club.

Colony House closed their set with a fun medley of “Looking for Some Light”, “You Know It”, and “OK OK OK OK”.  Caleb threw his guitar into the air as Will slashed his symbols for the closing fanfare.  With big smiles and even bigger hearts, Colony House once again brought flare, fire, and passion to Philadelphia.

Colony House is just about to wrap up this leg of the 77 (Pt. 1) tour. You can keep up with their future tour dates here, and be sure to follow them on Instagram and Facebook.
