Home » Floya Releases Debut Album Yume

German Electro-Rock duo Floya has just released their highly anticipated debut album Yume. The 10 track record features an array of bright and uplifting songs, many of which have already been released, while others are brand new.

“Stay” is an incredibly strong opener, setting a fun and energetic tone for the rest of the album. “Willows” is an appropriate follow up. Marv Wilder and Phil Bayer’s EDM influences shine through in this track.

“Wonders” stays true to Floya’s nostalgic sound, while adding a bit of a rock flare. So many of the tracks on this album feel like they could be anthems of one’s past–Songs that should be shouted into the night on a midnight drive, or played on repeat as you dance with the people closest to you. “Drift” is no exception. The guitars especially shine on tracks such as “The Hymn”, “Weaver” and “Epiphany”. Floya successfully toes the line between true modern rock and electrifying pop. Such impressive instrumentals are prevalent throughout the entire album, and are a standout feature of Floya’s work.

“Florescent”‘s instrumental intro will surely have you headbanging, while the chorus pulses vibrantly with sentiments of love and reassurance for someone that you care deeply about.

“Lights Out” is my personal favorite song on Yume. The hook is nothing short of brilliant, while the dreamy instrumentals pull you into a soundscape of nostalgia. We also previously reviewed this song, so you can check that out here.

The final song and titular track “Yume” is a tender ballad that closes out the album perfectly. This song tells an intimate story of letting go and knowing that those you’ve lost are always with you.

Yume is an album that takes the listener on a journey of pain and perseverance, of hope and love. Floya has tapped into a sound that perfectly encompasses the complexity of the human experience. I can’t wait to see what the duo has planned next.
