LIVE REVIEW: CLASH OF THE TITANS – Kreator & Testament at HISTORY in Toronto, Ontario on October 4th, 2024

The Klash of the Titans tour is one of the most notable and recognizable in heavy metal, and it has been revived once more for the year of 2024! Co-headlined by thrash icons Germany’s Kreator and America’s Testament, this tour is a lengthy 33-dates long and is headed all across North America.

Kreator’s set was gripping before it had even begun; the stage props were elaborate and grand, including massive inflatable demons on each end of the stage. Aside from their epic stage production, the band themselves made the stage their playground, constantly moving about, exchanging spots, interacting with each other, as well as the audience. Just three songs in, frontman Miland Petrozza called for the creation of a wall of death right before their song “Enemy of God”.

The energy in the room was through the roof, and the love was contagious – not only from audience to band, but band to audience as well. Members of Kreator continuously thanked the audience for spending the night with them, and the feeling of community in the room was heartwarming.

The legendary band played all their hits, with songs like “Hordes of Chaos”, “Pleasure to Kill” and “Satan is Real”, being the favorites of the night.

Thrash quintet Testament was the final band of the night. Just like Kreator, their stage production was breathtaking – they had baroque-esque backdrops which were just mesmerizing, adding to their ethereality as a band.

Frontman Chuck Billy walked out onto the stage with a huge smile, and left it all the same. His joy of being on stage radiated through the venue and into the crowd. All members of the band were remarkably interactive, giving crowd-surfers fist-bumps on their way back into the crowd, and tossing guitar picks endlessly throughout the night. And, the band made sure the photographers had a great time in the pit too, interacting with us as we took pictures! They made sure, without a shadow of a doubt, that everyone was rocking out with them. They played favorites like “Over the Wall” and “Alone in the Dark”, ending the night with “Into the Pit”.

These iconic bands have about half their tour dates still left to play, so make sure you get to enjoy a night out moshing, crowd surfing, and rocking with metal icons Kreator and Testament!
