Looking for a party? Then, Here Come The Mummies!
Here Come The Mummies brought their brand of funk to The Apollo Theater in Belvidere, IL on December 1, 2021. Few bands match the talent that these mummies bring to the stage. The mystery of who they are only adds to the entertainment value that they bring to their live show. They are a ten piece band that play an assortment of instruments including, guitars, drums, keyboards, trumpets, trombones, saxophones, etc.
HCTM marches to the stage in their traditional drum line. Once all mummies are on stage in and position, they break into “My Party”. The set is 18 songs long and lasts right around two hours. They don’t waste a lot of time with chit chat between songs, but who needs to talk when they are perfectly capable of keeping the audience engaged through music and some of the best stage presence around! Every member plays multiple instruments and vocals are shared by several members of the band.
Some of the songs performed by HCTM included “Kinda Lingers”, “Ra Ra Ra”, “Freak Flag”, and fan favorite “Attack of the Weiner Man”. The greatest thing about Here Come The Mummies is that while they are considered a funk band, their style sits well with fans of any genre’. They entertain on many levels as well. The music alone makes the show worth going to. But add in the theatrics of the band and the humorous (and sometime risque’) lyrics and this show is over the top!
If Here Come The Mummies come to your town or are nearby, it would definitely be worth the time and money to check them out.
