Location: Main Street Armory – Rochester, NY
It was a night when many could have stayed home, due to high wind warnings and many local power outages. Fans eagerly waited in line, enduring a bitter gusty wind, to see Smith & Myers. It was absolutely worth the wait! The last time they performed in Rochester was with Shinedown which was more than five years ago. All in attendance experienced a very memorable performance!
The show started with Mack & Moore performing as a duo, playing a mix of covers and their own material. The crowd was very enthusiastic with the performance. They got thr audience hyped for the headliner. The pair continued later in the evening as supporting musicians for Smith & Myers.
Smith & Myers took the stage next. What makes this show extra special is that there isn’t a set list. No two shows are alike! Drawing from six Shinedown studio albums and two double Smith & Myers albums, there are plenty of song choices. They delivered an outstanding twenty song performance. One would never know that Brent Smith was recovering from a sickness and had to cancel the prior Philadelphia show on December, 9th. His vocal performance was spectacular! Some of the Shinedown songs covered were as follows; “If You Only Knew”,”Sound of Madness”,”Second Chance”and ”45″ to name a few. Including playing covers of these popular songs; Post Malones’ “Better Now”, INXS’ “Never Tear us Apart”, Nine Inch Nails‘ “Closer”, Lynyrd Skynyrds’ “Simple Man” and ‘In the “Air Tonight” by Phil Collins. Zach Myers sang a couple songs solo including a cover of TLCs’ “Waterfalls”.
The interaction between the audience and the band in this intimate setting was a treat to be a part of. Fans of all ages sang along and really enjoyed the show. Thank you Smith & Myers for a memorable and entertaining evening!
