black midi brought their tour to Toronto’s Phoenix Concert Theatre on October 18. Chicago rock band Horsegirl opened up the show. They played songs off of their debut album “Versions of Modern Performance”. Though they are a very young and new band it was impossible to tell as they got the crowd warmed up with their fuzzy, 90s-influenced rock.
black midi took the stage next, opening with “953” from their 2019 breakout album “Schlagenheim”. Most of their set covered their latest album “Hellfire”, and their live show leveled up the intensity of these songs even more. The crowd fed off of this intensity, opening up multiple circle pits throughout the set. It was truly mindblowing to see the intensity and precision black midi puts into their live show.
