“Remember three songs ago when I told everyone to jump up and down … Well the ones of you that jumped are invited to my birthday party. For those of you that didn’t jump, well YOU’RE ALSO INVITED! You see this is a punk rock show, this is a show where everyone is free to be who they are, this is a show for all of you to have a great time.” One quote from Frank encapsulated the entire show.

Frank Turner came to The Fillmore Wednesday night with a mission. That mission was to spread a message that music can be used to bring anyone together. Since 2005, he has released over 10 albums/EPs and played hits from across his entire discography. He came out swinging to the high energy hit “Punches” then transitioned to the hard hitting “1933”. The Sleeping Souls took a little break and the crowd got to see the softer side of Frank’s music with an intimate stripped down version of “Be More Kind”. The night came to a close with a blended mix of “ I Still Believe” and “Four Simple Words”, which (as a reviewer and fan) was the mash up I never knew I needed. Fans from 5 to 65 got to sing, jump, and dance the night away in a truly unforgettable set.

After a short intermission, co headliner The Interrupters came out to reenergize the rumpus crowd. Lead singer Aimee came out with the energy of a child on Christmas morning. It was amazingly refreshing to see an entire band that not only came to play, but came to interact with the crowd. During their hit “Title Holder,” fans heads were on a swivel as the whole band was bouncing about the stage, jumping off boxes, and high-fiving fans.

Overall this was an incredible event that brought you back to the concert days of old with high energy, and unity.
