Photos And Review By: Ann Storlie
Artist: Madison Beer
Date: November 12, 2021
Location: House of Blues – Chicago, IL
The show began with Madison coming on stage in a large rolling box, flanked by her two dancers. The crowd immediately began screaming and singing along to Madison’s first song “Baby.” For this first part of the show, she was dressed in a black dress with matching gloves. She finished up this first part of her set with the songs “Good in Goodbye,” “Stay Numb and Carry On,” and “Emotional Bruises” all with fun, choreographed dances.
The stage went dark as Madison went backstage for her first outfit change. During this interlude, the crowd and I watched a short film of Madison sitting at an old school desk, lit by one lamp, writing a song.
She soon emerged on the stage in a Victorian-inspired dress, and having the stage to herself without any dancers, she began to sing “Reckless” as she interacted with her fans by shaking their hands; a forest of trees on the video screen behind her.
Her dancers once again joined her onstage to perform “Homesick” as the vibe took a turn, and the video screen background showed outer space, complete with floating meteorites and planets. She finished this part of the show by performing “Stained Glass,” “Default,” “Effortlessly,” and “Selfish.”
After her final interlude and last outfit change, Madison once again took the stage to “Blue” and “Sour Times” while she danced around in a pink two-piece complete with yellow and pink flowers.
This final portion of her show included her performance of “Dear Society,” “BOYSHIT,” and “Follow The White Rabbit.”
Closing out the show with “Everything Happens For A Reason,” Madison stepped onto a large black box between the stage and the crowd as confetti cannons shot out paper hearts and she thanked her fans.
