LIVE REVIEW: L.S. DUNES at The Velvet Underground in Toronto, ON on November 22

Post-hardcore supergroup L.S. Dunes played to a sold-out crowd at The Velvet Underground in Toronto on Tuesday night with openers Dead Tired and Kayleigh Goldsworthy.

Hamilton, Ontario punk band Dead Tired opened up the show. It was their first time back on stage in over three years, and their excitement and energy was felt by the audience.

Next, Kayleigh Goldsworthy slowed things down with a solo set. She jokingly called herself the “Xanax of the night”, but the crowd still got a mosh pit going during her set.

The packed crowd went wild when L.S Dunes came on. Band shirts for each of the members’ other projects could be seen throughout the crowd, and based on the energy in the room, it was clear that everyone was ready to see some of their heroes. The band played every song on their debut album Past Lives. Even though it came out less than two weeks before the show, the crowd sang along to every word. Frontman Anthony Green brought endless amounts of energy, going right up to the crowd during every song.

The band closed the show with “Sleep Cult”, the final song on their album. They invited Kayleigh Goldsworthy back to the stage to lead the crowd in a sing-a-long of the backup vocals. The set flew by for both the crowd and the band. Anthony Green assured the crowd they were working on more songs, to raucous applause from the fans.
