The “Getting Old Sucks But Everyone’s Doing It” tour made its long awaited debut in Richmond, VA this past Thursday bringing along friends like Authority Zero and Mest! Mest opened up the night with the single greatest walk out song I’ve heard, “Thank you for being a friend”. They went on to play an impressive 45 minute set including hits “Cadillac,” “I Melt With You,” and “Long Days Long Nights.” One of the highlights of the night was bringing up a young 8 year old fan to crowd surf off the stage! Authority Zero started their set off with a BANG immediately creating an enormous circle pit!The continuation of their set remained rowdy and wrapped things up with ‘Mexican Radio”. By 9 O’clock the table was set and the crowd was ready for BFS! Kicking off the night with “Getting Old Sucks But Everyone’s Doing It” was the perfect way to get the true fans into full concert gear! I say “into full concert gear” because well, we’re getting old! The hits just kept coming with “Almost” and “High School never ends”. One of the really fun parts of the nights was seeing BFS bring up all the young fans on stage for the Phineas and Ferb theme song. You’ve just got to love a band that comes out to actually have fun on stage instead of just going through the motions. I’ve been a BFS fan for almost 30 years and the concert at The Canal Club was the perfect extension of my, and many others’ fandom.
